Local Vice President Tracy Miller was nominated for a prestigious energy sector award last month, recognizing her distinguished contributions to The Society.
Miller was put up for Energy Human Resources Canadas Emerging Leader Award by Bryan Young, a Unit Director at the Independent Electricity System Operator Local. Her nomination was supported by President Scott Travers.
In his nominating letter, Young highlighted Millers success in building the unions widely praised training system for new Society delegates; founding Sisters in Society to address womens issues in the union, workplace and society at large; and spearheading The Societys 2015 annual council meeting.
A Society Executive Board member since 2003, Young also said that Miller, deeply values inclusivity, and sincerely respects the need for dialogue and listening, balancing that with her strong leadership abilities that are informed by her passion, precision, and strategic acumen.
When Tracy speaks at our executive board meetings people listen, because Tracy is articulate, incisive, and gracious in the way she promotes a clear path forward on any item she speaks to, even when the issues are challenging.
Miller, meanwhile, continues to be humble in spite of her colleagues praise.
I was both overwhelmed and honoured to be nominated for the Emerging Leader Award, said Miller. During my time as an elected representative with the Society, I have had the opportunity and privilege to be mentored by a number of incredible Society Brothers and Sisters. These individuals have encouraged me to grow within my elected position and have supported me to stretch outside my comfort zone.
The Energy Human Resources Canada Emerging Leader Award recipient will be announced December 9.
