Staff of the National Judicial Institute (NJI) have chosen to become members of the Society of United Professionals. NJI is an independent, judge-led organization that provides educational programs and resources to Canada’s 2,500-strong judiciary. The new bargaining unit is made up of event planners, lawyers, IT and communications professionals.

NJI became aware of the Society of United Professionals through the union’s campaign to represent Legal Aid Ontario lawyers. The success of that campaign motivated NJI staff to consider unionization for themselves.

The Society of United Professionals is looking for new opportunities to represent new groups of workers. Do you know anyone who needs a union in their workplace? Interested employees can contact Organizer Michelle LeBlanc at leblancm@thesociety.ca.
