Established in 2016, we represent approximately 350 Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) staff lawyers and articling students working in courthouses and Legal Aid Ontario offices across Ontario. LAO lawyers promote access to justice throughout the province by providing legal advocacy, advice and research directly to, or in support of, low-income Ontarians. LAO lawyers and articling students work in the fields of criminal, family, immigration/refugee and poverty law.
The LAO Lawyers Local is represented by a democratically elected Interim Local Committee (ILC). The LAO Articling Students Local is represented by two democratically elected representatives. For more information on the LAO Articling Students Local click here.
